"A mathematician, like a painter or poet, is a maker of patterns. If his [or her] patterns are more permanent than theirs, it is because they are made with ideas."
Beautiful math is one sort of mathematical art, but there is much more for students to explore and create in the intersection of mathematics and art. In my private lessons and classes, I give kids the chance to create all sorts of art that is informed and inspired by math. There's lots to see and do. Through art, my students use math to form proud, mathematical creations of their very own.
